Has anyone here heard about the weight loss diet drug Lorcaserin? It's apparently an appetite suppressant that's been around for a couple of years and some people are saying that it really works. A recent study also revealed that it's a weight loss pill that is safe and effective for sustaining weight loss without increasing the risk of a cardiovascular event. It is reportedly the first weight loss drug considered safe for heart health in long term use according to the studies findings. I think this is pretty interesting. What do you guys think? Has anyone taken this obesity drug? If you want to learn more about this recent news, here's the link with the details https://globalnews.ca/news/4414557/w...drug-approved/

Yeah, that's great that the study has found that it's okay for long-term use...but I have to agree with the expert who commented in that article that even if it's okay for long-term the weight loss results it produces in those who take it are pretty lame....I mean 12 pounds in 40 months??? How is that worth taking, and especially at that insane price!

Yeah...wow....how is it a win that it can be taken for long term but it actually kinda sucks in terms of helping people lose weight? Just because something can lead to a couple of pounds of weight loss doesn't actually do anything for anyone who is trying to lose weight...

Why do they even both releasing prescription drugs for weight loss anymore when none of them seem to work? I mean is this terrible weight loss result from taking the pill and doing no exercise or following a diet or does it include people who also engaged in conventional dieting efforts? cause honestly if you only lose 12 pounds in that length of time when you're also dieting while taking the pill...what the heck is the point of taking it????

Haha oh my gosh, I just re-read the article I posted and realized that I hadn't read the whole thing! You guys aren't kidding that this isn't really big deal news...I mean, wow, what does it matter what good or bad effects it might have it if it barely seems to lead to any real reduction in weight???

I've also read that it is supposed to be helpful as a treatment to diabetes as well. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/323279.php I really wish before they released the findings of studies that the evidence they found was more concrete. I mean simply because something "may" help treat weight loss and prevent diabetes isn't enough...there needs to be more than a "may" for it to be something for me to get excited about. I think the US needs to look to something other than weight loss drugs to help treat obesity by this point. Am I the only one who thinks this?
