I always cook far too much veg or make far too much salad and fill my plate wit green stuff with next to no calories and loads of fibre and vitamins. I should try the water thing though as I'm always still hungry at about 9-10ish.

I have a suggestion, you drink water before and after dinner to make yourself feel fuller. Most dieters I know usually drink a glass of water before they eat, they said that it gives them a "fuller" feeling thus they tend to eat only a small portion from their plate. after dinner, most dieters drink milk at bedtime to resist the urge of eating midnight snacks. It is also a good source of calcium and is often used as tranquilizer since milk has an effect on our body that makes us sleepy after drinking it. I think its also psychological, I really don't know.

If you are still hungry even after trying this method, assess how much you eat and what kind of food you are eating. Maybe they are all empty calories? If your body does not get its needed essential nutrients and minerals, your brain tends to send signals for you to eat otherwise, you will not be able to reach your optimum level of functioning.

However, if you are eating properly maybe its a medical condition and should be checked by a physician. consult your doctor about it in order to stop this uncontrollable hunger. It might be the sole reason of your weight gain.

I dont know what sort of schedule you may have, but I am also around your age and also get hunray at night, I have got it off to a tee now as they say, I go downstairs while my husband and Kids eat dinner and I do a workout, while working out of course you drink plenty of water, then straight after exercise, your body does not want food, so I shower have a large cup of tea, relax for a little while then I enjoy a light supper and it really works for me, I always have a yogurt for afters, ive lost quite a lot of weight since ive cut down my supper.

          workout routines

I like to have a cliff bar about 4 pm and Im not starving at dinner. I have tried powerbars and fruit and other snacks but nothing seems to squash the evening hunger like ol cliff.

One thing I would recommend is adding calories to your breakfast and your mid day snacks. It's good that you eat several times throughout the day, but this is most effective if your breakfast is the largest meal of the day, and your meals get smaller as you go through the day.

Make sure you are eating plenty of fiber and whole wheat, as well as essential fats. These things keep you full longer. For info on these foods, just google it, or search this forum. I'm sure there are plenty of posts with lists of these types of foods.

Once you've settled in for the evening, keep a jug or a glass of water with you at all times, and drink. The water is very important for weight loss, and it will help you feel full when you haven't eaten in a while. (it's actually a good idea to keep a water jug with you all day long, if your work allows it)

                craving sweets at night

Sometimes water doesn't cut it, at least not for me. The best tip for fighting a craving for sweets at night that I have found is to brush my teeth. Once my teeth are brushed I feel less motivated to eat anything. Also, peppermint is a natural appetite suppressant (at least that's what I've been told).

Easy and Simple way to control food urges after dinner

The best way is to eat healthy at dinner. This should be low calorie, low in carbs. I usually eat lentils for dinner. To this I add vegetables. I prepare a bowl and eat slowly preferably by 7:30 in the evening. To this I usually add 2 pieces of brown bread. I ensure to eat the soup as much as possible which is great to keep me away from eating excess foods later in the night. This is low in calories and excellent for the body.

Another way is to break the dinner into two parts - first supper, then dinner. For supper take a small helping of your favorite food (small portion) and drink water. After this refrain from eating dinner at least for one hour. Now eat the vegetables and bread and again drink water. Ideally, dinners are kept as low as possible, so just prepare some simple and healthy food.

Remember, the key is to eat healthy food in sufficient quantity for dinner, it might not be tasty but great to keep you away from junk stuffs.

You can drink 2 glass of water before dinner or can eat some fruits which you like to have this way you feel more full during the dinner time.
