Has anyone else found that they get sick with colds more often when they are dieting? I thought my immune system was supposed to be better because of all the healthy foods I eat. Maybe it's just me. Does anyone else have this problems or a theory as to why it happens?

I too got a cold shortly after changing my eating habits. I wonder if the immune system is less due to body detoxing? Something to think about. I haven't got sick since though, so I recon my immune is good now. lol

You missed having a cold? That's weird.
Yes, I agree lpower5 that the immune system seems to go wonky when dieting. It might be due to detoxing or that your body isn't getting as many calories as it's used to. Either way, it sure can be a nuisance. I think I'll get the flu shot this year just so I don't have to constantly suffer the sniffles.

When you go on a diet, your immune system will surely decline especially if you are not getting enough calories for your body to function properly. If you have cut off orange juice for tea, you are also cutting off the vitamin C along with it thus; the best substitute is a vitamin c dietary supplement. If you are on diet, there are certain kinds of foods that we try to void which helps keep our immune system high that is why it is necessary that you take vitamins when dieting.
Exercise is also one thing that helps boost your immune system. Some people who lose weight by eating less usually do not have enough energy to exercise which is unhealthy, exercise is important to keep our cells rejuvenated. It helps increase metabolism too so its kinda killing two birds in one stone.
So the next time that you feel like having colds again, try to take supplementary vitamins and minerals. It will help your body acquire the essential nutrients that you have deprived her because of dieting.

Make sure you are eating plenty fruits and veggies. The veggies have an incredible glycemic index. You will burn most of the calories taken from them just by digesting them!
Take a multi-vitamin. These are the batteries for your body. You need these for your body to fully function properly. The only time you shouldn't have a multi vitamin is if directed by a doctor, or if your diet is so complete, you already get every vitamin and mineral you need just from foods alone.

All these are great points, but sometimes there is no amount of healthy eating, exercise and multi-vitamins that can fend off a cold. My husband and I started dieting a couple of weeks ago. We have eaten more fruits and vegetables than is humanely possible, we exercise every day and I take a multi, but still I came down with a head cold as soon as we started dieting. So did my husband. It's so frustrating. It seems to happen every time we cut the calories back. My husband is eyeing cheeseburgers again thinking that cheating might help him get over this cold.
I don't know what to think. We'll be sticking with the diet, but it seems aweful strange to get sick when dieting more often than not. Could just be the time of year though as we tend to really go hardcore right after the new year.Guinea Piggy is one of Weight Loss Center's esteemed Weight Loss Blog Authors.

If you get sick when you are dieting, it may be because your body has not adapted to the diet yet. In this case, you need to persist with your diet for several weeks until your body stable. If after several weeks you still get sick that may be your diet is too low nutrition, I think you need to find a consistent diet which is verified.

Dieting is the worst idea to loose weight. If you do dieting then then you are harming your health badly. If your body will not get enough nutrients then your immune system may get weaker and you may get ill easily.Doing more exercise is better than to eat less.

If your immune system suffers during your diet, it probably means that your nutrition is not adequate. Reducing calories does not mean scrimping on nutrition. You should also continue your multivitamin.
Good luck!
