Which is better for you if you want to lose weight? Protein or fiber? I know that you should get both in your diet, but is one more beneficial for helping you to keep weight off?

Carbs do give you energy, but it's typically short lived, which is why it's so easy to crash after you eat them. It's better to get energy from protein and fill up on fiber, because the effects typically last longer. This doesn't mean you shouldn't have carbs, too, but there's a big difference between a boost of energy and energy that lasts.
