I know that you should typically avoid soda when you are trying to lose weight and for the good of your overall health, but what about soda water? I really like the bubbly fizz of carbonation and I find it to be a fun drink when I'm tired of drinking plain old water. Is soda water okay for weight loss or for your health in general?

I checked out the link doubletaurus and I noticed that the facts were for Tonic Water, which definitely has sugar in it. If you were curious about Tonic Water or other water-based soda drinks with flavoring Tiff, they definitely do have sugar in them. But if you're wondering about club soda or seltzer, these don't have sugar. Seltzer is regular water with carbonation. Club Soda is water with carbonation but it also has added minearls, like sodium bicarbonate and potassium to give it a bit of flavor. So, it has some added salt. It's not a high amount, but it's still good to know that it is in there.
As for being good for weight loss, I don't think it will help you or really work against you. That said, I do remember hearing about some study a few years back that found drinking carbonated beverages can increase your appetite, but I don't know if they mean the ones with sugar or carbonation in general (something to think about). That said, the only real drawback with drinking things like soda water is that carbon definitely makes you more gassy and can irritate your stomach and make you bloated. So while, it won't pack on the pounds, it can make you look puffy.

Thanks for all of your responses and for posting the links to that article doubletaurus. I didn't realize that tonic water had that much sugar in it and it was one of the drinks I was considering switching too! *Sigh* I guess I'll just have to keep my soda intake as a treat. I'll have to find some other healthy water alternative
