I turned forty today and it’s been a long time since I have really felt good about health. I need to find a diet system that works; I need to boost my energy levels too. What can I do?

Re:Good Advice for losing weight
Happy birthday! Over weight is probably the reason for the symptoms you have. I recently came across a program called ‘The Dieting Fix’ which is an audio guide to permanent weight loss. You can actually ensure good health by having a complete command over your emotions, says Martinez in his CD. I would recommend that you get hold of this CD.Last edited by Ziphera; 04-30-09, 12:26 PM.

I'm pretty sure the rule of thumb for drinking enough water is drinking eight 8-ounce glasses a day. I try to always start my day by filling up my 64 ounce water bottle and then I sip on it during the day. I've never been a big water drinker myself, but at least this way I always have it on hand when I'm thirsty or remember to drink something. Also, if you ever feel hungry between meals, drinking a big glass of cold water can sometimes kill the hunger pangs.Guinea Piggy is one of Weight Loss Center's esteemed Weight Loss Blog Authors.

water
I've been on so many diets-- have lost at leat 200lbs in my lifetime, maybe more. Every diet I've been on and lost weight, was always told to drink water. Never did it. Still lost weight. Don't know why it's necessary to drink water except that it fills your stomach.
My problem is eating at night. I can't sleep. Had the problem for many years. My father was an insomniac as well.
Maybe if there are other insomniacs here, I can talk with them at night!
Instead of eating.

Setting up a diet is really simple in my mind:
Set calories.
Set protein.
Set fat.
Set carbs.
Fill in the remainder of your calorie allotment with whatever you want.
I could go into detail on each of those if you'd like, but making it any more difficult than that is silly.
Not to mention, many don't even have to count calories. By simply choosing "smarter" foods, their calories are self-regulated. Most foods that are considered healthy satiate you while avoiding such a large calorie load, so it becomes harder to overeat.

Go organic
Conventional foods are full of things too long to list here, they even spray MSG on plants and veggies while they grow! Head to a Whole Foods or something, shop the perimeter of the store. Start cutting our slowly bad foods from your diet. Don't over do it at first it could cause you to fail...

Enrique, you may eat more fruits and vegetables. Do not mix protein foods like chicken, beef, etc, with starch foods like potatoes, rice, yam, etc. If you eat protein foods and starch foods together, you will have undegisted food that can cause bacteria in your body. Eat fruits on empty stomach so that all nutritions will be absorbed by your body.
Tony Robbins mentioned it in his Unlimted Power book. I followed it, and feel great about it. You will not only lose weight easily but also gain a healthy body.

# Decreasing portions slightly to shave up to 100 calories off each meal
# Trimming or draining fat from meats or choosing lean cuts
# Using herbs and spices rather than fatty dressings and toppings
# Baking, braising, and steaming rather than frying
