  • Fish oil supplements for weight loss

I’ve been reading a lot of mixed information about taking fish oil supplements to help to encourage weight loss. Some suggest that it seems to be able to boost the speed of losing weight by quite a bit, while it is good for health in many other parts of the body (the heart, for example), I’m really not sure how taking a fat can help you to lose fat on your body.

A lot of the claims that I’ve seen from actual specific places, like the Zone diet, since they sell their own fish oil supplements, are very vague. They don’t point to specific benefits but seem to hint at overall ones. I’m not really sure what to do with that information and what to believe. I think that taking the supplements is probably healthy but should I really expect that it will help to promote faster or better weight loss in some way or is that all just a sales pitch?

I think that fish oil is an important source of really good quality omega 3s. Those are great for achieving overall good health which is very important to being able to lose weight as efficiently as is possible for your body. I don't think that taking fish oils on their own will actually speed up weight loss unless you mix it with a healthy diet and a regular exercise program, but they don't hurt. So don't think of them as a miracle pill, but you can take them to help in your overall program.

Ok thanks. I pretty much though that might be the case but I thought that I would check it out to be sure. It's good to know that at least they're healthy.

I agree. Healthy but not necessarily a diet pill

I take it because it is good for the heart. I have never heard about it for weight loss but surely it can only help.
