  • Pilates for weight loss

I'm into Pilates right now, especially as the colder weather sets in. I used to do it a lot but I've slacked off over the last year since I usually try to exercise outside for fresh air whenever I can.

Does anyone have any tips for getting back into Pilates after a long break. I just can't seem to do the moves that I used to achieve.

For example, when I do the "hundreds" (lying flat on your back with your legs straight at a 45 degree angle, lifting your head and shoulders off the floor and pumping your straight arms parallel to your body) my abs start to shake like an earthquake.

    I'll appreciate any help

I think the trick to getting back into it is just to do as many of the repetitions as you can and then just rest when you need to. You'll build your ability up again.

I'm sure that just getting back into the routine of doing it regularly will build up your abilities again.

I find that when you actually know the workout and you get back into it again, you can build back up a lot faster than when you start off the first time with the routine.

What's a good way to start into pilates for the first time? A video? A class? I need something that isn't too expensive, but I'd like to see if it works.

When I started, I used a video because I wanted to become familiar with it before committing myself to a class.

I would say to work up to doing the exercises that you can not do properly. All these things take time and you can not expect yourself to be able to just do it correctly right away.
