  • Building muscles you can see

Is it possible to tone your body so much by doing pilates and yoga that you can actually see muscle definition? Or do you have to do other strength training and weight lifting for this to occur.

It's definitely possible, but you've got to be committed to doing it every day and make sure you're keeping up the intensity so that you're always giving your muscles the right workout (without hurting yourself). Also, it will take a long time for you to see the effects..like months. Don't expect it to happen over night or in a couple of weeks.

It takes a long time. Definitely dedication and a couple of months. That might not sound like a long time...but when you're in the thick of it and you want to see results it can get discouraging. Just keep it up though and don't push yourself too far. You'll get there :D

okay. So essentially it's possible it just takes forever hahaha. Ron you said that it's important to keep up intensity. Do you know how often I should increase intensity and do you mean like advancing from like beginner to intermediate? That sort of thing? Like, should I always be feeling the burn?

You need to listen to your body for that and if you don't know how to do that, then I would highly recommend you find yourself a professional trainer. You should feel a challenge when you exercise. Feeling the "burn" insn't necessarily a good thing because you should never hurt after you exercise. I mean when you first start and your out of shape you might feel it a little more than when you actually build up some muscle but you should never feel actual pain. This is an indication that you're doing something wrong or you're going too hard to fast. Essentially, gradually ease to a new level once you find the exercises you are doing are too easy and you have no problem performing them. It's good to keep the body challenged...just not overly challenged.

I personally think that the body is actually your best weight training tool. Using your own body weight as resistance can definitely help you build and tone muscle and it's FREE!
