Is it safe to follow Yoga lessons that are free on YouTube or is it better for me to physically go to an actual class? I like that I can just follow something online for free because I'm more likely to do it and I'm not big on doing exercises in front of other people, but at the same time, I don't want to hurt myself if this is actually bad for me. Does anyone else do YouTube Yoga?

It's about as safe as following any at home video, as long as you are following the instructions of a professional. Essentially, if you are really concerned about hurting yourself, actually go a class with an instructor so they can show you what you might be doing wrong and can guide you. Otherwise, you should be fine following something on YouTube.

Exactly what Tara says. It's no more or less safer than buying a video from a pro and following along. Essentially, find someone you like, start off with a basic (and short) lesson and don't do any moves that hurt your body or cause you massive discomfort.

I've done it before. I've found beginner yoga exercises that I really like on YouTube. All you have to do is a search to find a bunch. I recommend just watching a few you think you might like first (don't do the exercises right away). It's important that the person you pick is one you like, you can easily follow, etc. Also, you can find yoga videos that require you to have equipment and those that don't. Take your time and be selective.

Thanks so much for all your support and answers! I'm going to give this a try this week. I've been looking at different people who teach it online and I think I found a couple that I really like. One is only 10 minutes, too, which is great because I don't really want to get into anything long and involved until I decide that I like it.
