    If I want to tone my abs and define them so that you can see them, like a six pack, which type of exercise would be better for this. Yoga or Pilates? Also, if one is better than the other could you tell me why you think so or stat a fact about it. Thanks :)

    I think pilates would actually be better than Yoga for toning abs. I mean I know that Yoga gives you lots of strength, too, but pilates really focuses on strength training so I think you'll have a far better chance at building the kind of body you want with this exercise.

      I also think that pilates is the way to go. I mean I know Yoga can do it, too, but pilates does really focus on strength training more than anything else. It teaches you how to use your body as the weight resistance and through that, you can tone up your body pretty nicely and build some nice muscle without looking like a body builder.

        I think the best ab toning exercises are crunches, pushups and situps and weights. Don't get me wrong, I think that Yoga and Pilates are great exercises, but I think if you want to target your abs specifically there are better ways.

          I disagree and if you've ever done yoga or pilates you'd now that a lot of it targets you core muscles.

            I agree with you Maggie. I think Yoga tones the whole body. A lot of the poses that you need to do are not easy. They require a lot of balance and core strength. I think both yoga and pilates offer great ab workouts, just in different ways.

              Thanks for all your opinions. I've now tried both exercises and I've personally found that Yoga is overall more beneficial because it also does good things for my mind. It helps with my mental state of mind and is a far better stress reliever than pilates in my opinion. I always feel rejuvinated after yoga in a way that I don't after pilates.
