  • Cardio every day

Should I be doing cardio exercises every day if I want to lose weight? Or am I supposed to only do cardio so many days of the week and rest other days?

I don't see a problem with doing cardio every day. It is a great way to burn fat. It's definitely not the only form of exercise you should do, but if you walk every day, that's a form of cardio and that's good for you. There are different intensities that you can do for exercise, but essentially all that you should aim to do is to get your heart rate up.

I also think it's a good idea to do cardio everyday. I don't think you should do intense cardio everyday, but going for a brisk walk to get your heart rate up is good everyday of the week in my book :)

It's actually good to take a break for one day out of the week, even from brisk walking. This doesn't mean that you should be sedentary and not move (cause that is likely to lead to your body feeling stiff and uncomfortable) but just moving normally around your home or if you go out anywhere (ex. shopping, gardening, etc.) is all you really need on your day off. It's important that you don't overdo it and that you let your body rest.

Thanks for your answer legendarytroy. This is pretty much what I had wanted to know. That makes a lot of sense to me and puts a few things into perspective.

Thanks for the rest of your responses too. You all see to agree on the same thing which is a huge help for me!

Yeah a day of rest or two is important. The muscles you work out are actually supposed to be given time to heal. The last thing you want to do is injure yourself which will require you to take a much longer break which could set you back.

Definitely take a day or two off. You don't want to overdo it. Even if you're feeling like your body can handle it, it's always better to not push yourself.

You should rest for one day at least, but it would be better to rest for two. Never exercise non-stop. Your body needs time off.

Yup. After altering my workout-rest strategy I've found that resting 2 days is actually best for my body. I feel more rejuvenated when I start back up again. I rest for two days in a row. It's nice too because it feels like a good break :)
