I was wondering if I added ankle or wrist weights (or both) to my exercise, would this improve my weight loss results, because I'm adding more resistance? I'd really like to get the most from my workouts. However, I also don't want to hurt myself. Thanks for the help in advance!

Do ankle and/or wrist weights help you lose weight faster?

I was always told to stay away from these weights because I heard that they can really hurt your body because they put a lot of strain on your joints and things while you exercise and you don't realize that you're causing injury until it's too late.
My sister really hurt herself with wrist weights and it took a long time before her arm healed. It's super easy to damage yourself without even realizing that you're doing it by using the wrong kind and size of weight. Be careful.

They are safe as long as you know how to use them and you get the appropriate size. That said, it's easy to use them wrong and it's easy to get weights that are heavier than you need, which is why injury tends to happen with this kind of weight. That said, I think that they are a lot more convenient than using dumbbells.

These types of weights are not safe because you are bound to use them incorrectly, even if you have the best intentions to use them properly. It's far too easy to injure yourself using these weights than you might realize. They seem like a good idea because you think you are providing more resistance, but what you're setting yourself up for is injury.
