  • Do situps work?

Do situps really work to help you flatten your belly? I’ve done them every day for a month and they’re getting easier but I don’t see a difference.

Not for fat loss. They help tone muscle (which is a fat burner) and they can help you burn calories, but you can't actually get rid of belly fat specifically with situps

I think that pretty much any activity that you can do that stops you from sitting around and doing nothing is good for you. Some are better than others, sure, but as long as you're moving around, breathing, and using your muscles, you're at least doing better than doing nothing.

Sit ups work because they help you to build your core muscles. They don't necessarily make you slimmer around your middle, specifically, but they do help you to increase your central strength which is great for making other exercises easier, it's better for your posture, and it's good for your overall health.

I think that situps don't get enough credit. Even if they don't directly slim down your middle as you'd like, they still help you to tone and build muscle. That helps you to burn more calories and therefore lose weight more quickly. Where is the first place the body sheds weight? Around the middle! So indirectly, they work!

You need to do sit ups right to make them work properly. Crunches are far better because they access more of the muscles. You need to make sure that you're really activating all of the muscles around your middle if you want to actually do any toning.

I find that putting your hands behind your head, bending your knees, and curling up keeping your chin up while scrunching stomach muscles works the best. They're far more challenging than a regular sit up but they do a lot more in less time. Then, do ones to the sides with a slight twist toward one knee then the other to access the obliques and tone those, too. It's not just about the middle muscles. You want to work out all the way around.

situps won't necessarily give you a small middle but they will build your msucles there. That will help you burn more fat and when you do get slimmer it will help you to achieve a better look in that area because you'll be more toned. Doing anything to strengthen the core is good for you overall. It supports the rest of your body.

Any exercise you can do to build muscle is good because the more muscle you have on your body, the more calories you burn all the time, even when you're not active.

Sit-ups are a strength-training exercise that develops and moderates your rectus abdominus, which is the especially a large muscle that runs down the front of your torso. When you consistently complete sit-ups, you overload your rectus abdominus muscle and cause it to both strengthen and tone. To use sit-ups to tone your abdominal muscles, work out three days per week with a day of rest in between. SO this thing is right for your muscles and its some how effects your weight too but you have to apply some different strageties to loose weight quickly ! Thanks

I don't find that sit ups work for weight loss but they do help to slim my middle even if i weigh the same.
