  • 100 Push Up Challenge

    Hi Everyone!

I have decided to join the 100 Push Up Challenge because I've never been able to more than 15 at a time. The goal is to be able to do 100 consecutive push ups in 6 weeks. The plan looks great and only requires about half an hour every week. Check it out one hundred push ups

I just did the test and completed 14 push ups before collapsing. I was surprised I could even do that many.

Tomorrow I will start the routine and I will try to keep you posted about how it goes. Tomorrow's routine will go as follows:

level 1 - 10 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
level 2 - 10 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
level 3 - 8 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
level 4 - 6 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
level 5 - as many push ups as you can manage (min. 7)

I'll let you know exactly how many I did as I go.

100 Push Up Challenge: Day 1

    Day 1:

level 1 - 10 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
level 2 - 10 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
level 3 - 8 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
level 4 - 6 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
    level 5 - 9 push ups

I could only do 9 push ups at the end, and I was really having to try hard to squeeze the last couple out, but I did it.

So now I have a day of rest, then I will do Day 2, which will be 12, 12, 10, 10 and as many as I can (min. 10) with 90 second rests.

100 Push Up Challenge: Day 2

      Day 2:

level 1 - 12 push ups, followed by 90 second rest
level 2 - 12 push ups, followed by 90 second rest
level 3 - 10 push ups, followed by 90 second rest
level 4 - 10 push ups, followed by 90 second rest
level 5 - as many push ups as you can manage (min. 10)

Today I completed Day 2 of the 100 push up challenge program. I was really surprised how many push ups I could do today. The first two sets of 12 were pretty easy. The second 2 sets of 10 weren't even that bad and I managed to do a full 12 at the end. Amazing!

Tomorrow I get a day of rest then back to the program to Day 3, which will be 15, 13, 10, 10, and at least 15 (or more if I can) with 120 second rests.

        100 Push Up Challenge - Day 3

        Day 3:

level 1 - 15 push ups, followed by 120 second rest
level 2 - 13 push ups, followed by 120 second rest
level 3 - 10 push ups, followed by 120 second rest
level 4 - 10 push ups, followed by 120 second rest
level 5 - as many push ups as you can manage (min. 15)

Yesterday I did Day 3 of the push up challenge. I missed a day of push ups over the weekend, but I didn't find that it made too much of a difference. I blasted through the first 15 easily and the 13, 10 and 10 weren't that bad either. I rested for a few minutes before doing the last set because I really wanted to exceed the minimum. I managed to do 18 - I was pretty pleased about that.

Today will be a day of rest and then onwards and upwards to Week 2 of the Push Up Challenge. Day 1 of Week 2 will be 12, 12, 9, 7 and at least 10 (or more if I can) with 60 second breaks.

          100 Push Up Challenge - Week 2, Day 1

          Day 1, Week 2:
level 1 - 12 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
level 2 - 12 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
level 3 - 9 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
level 4 - 7 push ups, followed by 60 second rest
level 5 - as many push ups as you can manage (min. 10)

I completed Day 1 of Week 2 of the push up challenge. Day 1 of this week is actually easier than Day 3 of last week so I didn't really struggle at completing the push ups required. I finished off with 15 push ups at the end, which was a few short of what I though I was going to be able to do. Oh well, I will have to step it up tomorrow.

Today will be a day of rest and then moving on to Week 2, Day 2 that will be 16, 13, 11, 11 and at least 15 (or more if I can) with 90 second breaks. Day 2 will prove to be a little tougher I think, but hey, I'm still amazed I'm able to do 15 push ups in a row now without too much struggle.

            Vacation and No Pushups

sorry folks, i went on vacation and had big ideas about how i would continue with the pushups every day, but of course that didn't happen. i was away for a month and i will have to start the 100 push up challenge all over again. darn it.

actually, i have just picked up the p90x workout program and i'm going to start that today, so i won't get back to the push up challenge for a while. it's time to see what all this p90x fuss is about.
