  • Like Alli?

Is proactol the same time of OTC diet pill like Alli? I see that it's labeled as a fat binder. Does this mean it has the same ingredients and functions in the same way to prevent the body from absorbing fat?

No. I don't think it is the same. I'm pretty sure that Alli contains a drug call Orlistat. Proactol does not have this same drug in it. I think on the whole Alli would work better because at least it contains an ingredient that had been tested and clinically proven to work.

These two products are nothing alike. If you have to pick between the two, I would highly recommend Alli. For one thing, it's still around, for another it contains an actually studied ingredient. Still though, if you are going to take it, run it by your doc first and do be sure to follow the instructions for optimal effects...you know, like actually commit to the right diet and engage in regular exercise. Without those two components, Alli isn't going to do much for shedding the excess pounds, either.

I agree...plus I also think proactol was discontinued.

Yup, you can totally buy it. I don't know if you can buy it in store, but you can definitely purchase it online. It's not cheap and I have no idea if they still actually make any new versions of the product, but you can buy Proactol XS for sure...that said, should you buy it? From what I can see, Proactol XS pretty much just contains chitosan as the active ingredient. No idea what that's supposed to do or if it works, but at least it's not loaded with stimulants, right?

Chitosan is supposed to help bind to fat in the body and help you excrete more of it. No idea if it actually works that way but if you do try this or any other product that contains chitosan, keep in mind that it comes from the shells of crustaceans, like shrimp, crab, lobster, etc. Therefore, if you are allergic to shellfish or you're vegan, you'll want to avoid it.
