I was wondering if Phentermine and all it's brand names (ex. Adipex) are still considered the best prescription diet drugs for appetite suppression? I know that there are other medications like Belviq and Qsymia. Are these ones any better?

I think so. Plus I think that Qsymia contains phentermine as one of its ingredients. Then again, I know that phentermine doesn't always work for some people. I've read studies that say people who take it can lose 12 pounds more a year than someone who doesn't take it...that doesn't sound very earth shattering to me...especially when you factor in the number of bad side effects it causes.

I don't know if they are considered the best but they've definitely been around for a long time without getting too much bad press. As for new pills, I think they're just too new to determine how effective they are.
Personally I feel like when it comes to prescription diet pills, they have the potential to be beneficial as long as you follow all of your doctor's directions to the letter and if you can handle the unpleasant side effects that they cause. It may be that you'll respond to one better than another, too. I always feel like there is a lot of trial and error involved.
