To be honest I was all interested in hoodia once, but I don't find it effective for me and have become far more interested in caffeine. I heard the other day that someone said the caffeine you get from matcha is better for weight loss than the caffeine in coffee. Is this true? Are there different types of caffeine? I thought there was only one kind and things that contained it just had more or less.

I think there's only one type of caffeine, it's just how much of it is used and in what form it's in. For instance, the caffeine you get in a drink vs. caffeine anhydrous is different because caffeine anhydrous is a more concentrated dose that you get all at once. For instance, you can get a 200 mg instant dose of caffeine anhydrous in a pill but to get this same amount of caffeine in coffee you'd need to drink at least 2 cups of coffee. I know there is quite a bit of caffeine in matcha but I didn't think it was more than coffee.

I feel that matcha is one of those ingredients that is over-hyped and over-priced. I don't think it does amazing things for your health and, as far as caffeine goes, even if it has as much as coffee, I really highly doubt that you'd feel the effects any differently. I personally wouldn't buy into the claims about this ingredient...especially not for the cost.

antoniojones1968 I hear ya. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to just blindly trust what the claims say about Matcha, but at the same time I'm intrigued enough that I'd like to give it a try. It would be awfully amazing if it did offer me some benefits. :)
