  • Why does it still exist

If Hoodia doesn't do anything and research can't even tell if it's safe. Why is this herb still around? How can companies get away with selling this stuff and making false claims? Shouldn't hoodia be banned?

Until it's banned it will always be around. Plus, although it doesn't seem to be proven to work, I don't think it's really been found to be unsafe either...so all you can do is just avoid products that have it if you don't want to take it.

Honestly, it's still around because tracy1976 is right....it's not banned. To be banned it would have to be linked to a lot of dangerous symptoms like how ephedra was. Until that day (or until the general public just chooses not to buy it anymore) comapny's will still use it to try to sell people on the fact that it suppresses appetite. This same argument could be had for lots of herbs in the weight loss industry. Essentially, if you don't like hoodia or any other herb for weight loss, don't buy the products that contain them.

That's exactly it. Until they ban it, just don't take products that contain it or any other ingredient you don't like. No dietary supplement for weight loss is really made with "proven" ingredients. Some are definitely better than others, but, for the most part, a lot of it is trial and error and finding out what works for you.

Yeah, I don't plan on taking it or anything, I just wish they would stop making products available that haven't been proven to do anything effective. I mean, it's practically like stealing form people, don't you think?
