Is Hoodia really safe or do people just not know?

  • #2
I honestly think it's not going to do bad things to most people who take it in small doses for the short term, regardless if it does or doesn't actually help with appetite suppression or weight loss or whatever. Still, researchers are still not entirely clear on just how safe or effective it is.

No one actually knows if it's safe. Even worse, is that it doesn't seem to be effective. At least in the case with ephedra, while that was proven to be unsafe, which is why it was pulled form the market, at least it actually worked...

Ugh. I really wish they would either pull this ingredient from the shelves until they do know anything about it, or, at the very least, make it so that companies can't make false claims about it. I'm so tired of all the false claims. They should never exist, but when it comes to making claims about something and getting someone's hopes up in regard to their weight or health, it just seems eve worse some how.

I hear ya, Ron. It's really frustrating that the entire dietary supplements industry is unregulated. It does get so hard to know what is possible good (and safe) for you and what should just be avoided. It would all be so much easier if shady manufacturers didn't make false and unsubstantiated claims.
