  • Can I still take alli if I am taking other medications?

I know that I need to talk to my doctor about taking Alli if I am taking other medications, but what I'd like to know is if it's okay to typically take it if you have an existing medical condition for which you're being treated. Is it possible for there to be negative interactions or other serious issues that I should know about?

Uh...seriously, why are you not asking your doctor this question? It doesn't matter what anyone's opinion is here, because we're not you and we don't have your body or the specific medical conditions and lifestyle that you have. I would recommend making a list of all the health conditions you have no or that you may have had in the past and bringing this to your doctor to discuss it and your interest in taking Alli. The reason is OF COURSE Alli may not be compatible with some medications.

I know I'm coming off blunt and a little harsh here, I'm really not trying to insult your intelligence, Mike, but I really think you should just bring this up with your doctor asap for your own health and safety. I really don't feel like our opinions regarding this matter (even based on our own experiences) are going to be of any real help to you.

I do appreciate your directness speeddemon, but I'd still like to know opinions....otherwise I wouldn't have posted here.

Alli, like any medication, can definitely negatively interact with certain medications or cause problems with existing medical conditions. For instance, it might not be an ideal choice for you to take if you have an eating disorder (Anorexia or Bulimia), Diabetes (type 1 or type 2), Pancreatitis, Gallbladder Disease, Liver Disease, Thyroid Disease, Organ transplant, etc. So, if you have any of these conditions (or others not listed) and/or are being medicated for them, you'll definitely want to talk to your doctor before taking Alli as this could create complications for you.

Pretty much if you're already taking medication to treat a health condition or if you have a health condition that you're worried may not react well to Alli, you can always ask the pharmacist, if you don't feel like making the call to your doc. My pharmacist has always been really good with answering my questions about over-the-counter stuff.

I don't think it would be a good idea to take Alli if you have gastrointestinal problems like iBS or things like that. It also might not be a good idea to mix with other medications like high blood pressure and all those things that you should typically talk to your doctor about first.
